While detectives are still investigating, police are officially calling the death of a 27-year-old in the city’s southwest homicide.

Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the body of Tyler Christopher Kaye, or Tye was found inside the south side apartment Sunday night.

He had succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

The confirmation came following an autopsy, which was conducted earlier Tuesday.

Earlier, friends of the victim confirmed his identity, and said they were shocked to hear of his passing, and don’t know why Kaye would be targeted.

“Right now I’m so upset and so angry, that someone would actually do that to a person like him, a gentle and nice guy like him,” Friend Reino Mislenovich said.

On Sunday, just after 8:30 p.m., police were called to an apartment in the area of 28 Avenue and 116 Street for a weapons complaint.

When they arrived, officers found the body of a 27-year-old man.

Since then, crime scene tape and investigators have remained at the scene – a police spokesperson said on Monday the case was ‘complex’

Few details on the case have been released by investigators.
