Josh Classen's forecast: A cool down and some occasional flurries

Share

After a really warm weekend, temperatures will stay on the mild side for one more day. Cooler air starts to dig in Tuesday.

Edmonton hit highs of 5 C Saturday and 1 C on Sunday.

Morning temperatures today are right around 0 C with a narrow band of light snow moving through parts of the region early.

That precipitation should slip off to the southeast by mid-morning at the latest and temperatures will continue to hover near the freezing mark through the morning and early afternoon.

But, a cooler airmass drops in over the coming days. Not COLD...but back to around average for early/mid December.

Mornings will be in the -9 C to -12 C range and afternoon will be in the -4 C to -8 C range. There's a brief warm up for Friday before turning slightly colder for the coming weekend and next week.

There's still a fair amount of uncertainty with just HOW COLD it'll get next week, but it looks likely that we'll have a few days with afternoon highs in double digits.

No major precipitation-bearing systems are charting a course to hit us. But, a few little precipitation impulses will move through in the coming days.

There's a chance of some light snow overnight as the cold front sweeps through and then 1-4 cm is likely on Tuesday as an area of light snow drifts in from the northwest.

Thursday could bring a few flurries to the region as well.
