We'll be storm-watching in Central & Eastern Alberta today.
And this time...it'll be during daylight hours!

Areas inside that faint yellow polygon are at risk of seeing some thunderstorm activity today.
The most likely timeframe for the Capital Region is 1-5pm.
The likelihood of severe storms IN Edmonton is fairly low.
However, there's a risk of severe weather East & Northeast of the Capital Region.
Don't be surprised if WATCHes & WARNINGs are issued later today.

The setup isn't PERFECT.  In fact, there are a couple factors working against a really big severe weather outbreak.
However, a collapsing Upper Ridge & a decent surface cold front should be enough to trigger some nasty storms.
Hail, strong wind & heavy rain will be the MAIN threats.  However, given the wind profile...a tornado cannot be ruled out.

A deep low pressure system trudges across Northern Alberta today & whips that cold front across the Edmonton area this afternoon.
On the backside of that low, we'll likely see some steadier showers develop in NW Alberta overnight.
Those showers may drift SE into the Edmonton region for early Thursday & we'll get a cooler day in most of the province.

The heat returns Friday as another Upper Ridge develops.  If anything, the next heat streak should be even HOTTER.
Temperatures have a potential to be near 30 for 5 or 6 straight days.
Some models are calling for mid-30 temperatures in parts of Central & NW Alberta by next week.
