Edmonton police are identifying the city's seventh homicide victim as 40-year-old Jeanette Marie Cardinal. Her body was located in an apartment in the area of 119 Ave. and 81 St. Monday afternoon.
Officers received a call on a report of a sudden death at an apartment building called Eastwood Heights around 1p.m. Monday.
"There are some suspicious things in the residence that I am not prepared to talk about right now," said Det. Bill Clark.
Neighbours in the area tell CTV News police have been to the building before and it is an area known for its partying.
"There are occasionally people that wander through this neighbourhood that are either bums or gang members stuff like that," said building resident Stan Anderson.
The cause of death is not being released at this time.
Police continue to investigate.
