Canada's first Victoria's Secret store opened its doors at West Edmonton Mall Thursday morning. Hundreds of eager shoppers waited in line for hours to get their hands on the popular lingerie.

"I've bought from the States and stuff before, it's just good not to have to travel so far and be able to get it right here and not have to order online," said excited shopper Tayler Ehnes.

A Victoria's Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel helped launch the opening by cutting a giant pink ribbon for media and shoppers.

A retail analyst suggests it's no surprise Edmonton was chosen as the flagship store because of the city's reputation as a hot destination for shoppers.

"It's a market where it's relatively easy to be successful," said Adam Finn, with the University of Alberta. "People spend more money here than in other parts of Canada."

Swanepoel will be on hand to sign autographs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Shoppers who buy $100 or more will get access to a VIP line for a shorter wait to meet the supermodel.
