Two people are in the hospital after shots were allegedly fired in the parking lot of a restaurant in northeast Edmonton.

Officers responded to the reports of multiple gun shots, around 11:15 Tuesday night, outside of a Boston Pizza near 118 Avenue and 34 Street.

Police said someone had fired at a Chrysler 300 and the people inside the vehicle when it was in the parking lot of the restaurant.

Police said a man and a woman, both believed to be in their twenties, were dropped off at the Northeast Community Health Centre a short time later suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

"Apparently they had arrived here [at hospital] in a silver Chrysler 300," said EPS Inspector Brian Nowlan said overnight. "The driver fled on foot after having dropped these people off."

Investigators said the pair is listed in serious, but stable condition.

Police with the Gang Unit and the Northeast Division are investigating.
