Edmonton police said the Homicide Section is investigating, after a woman was found dead in a downtown apartment suite Monday evening.

Police said officers were called to an apartment in the area of 112 Avenue and 95A Street at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, after a caller reported an unconscious person had been found.

When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old woman dead in an apartment suite.

The Homicide Section has taken over the investigation, and the death is being treated as suspicious.

EPS said late Tuesday morning that the woman had been identified, but next of kin notification had not been completed – police are trying to find the woman’s family.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the apartment complex, or who may have seen something suspicious in the area, to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.
