Police are warning Edmontonians about a convicted sexual offender, who is planning to live in the Edmonton area.

Andrew Lyle Carrigan, 44, is being released from the Bowden Institution after serving a 3.5 year sentence for distribution of child pornography and breach of probation.

EPS said Carrigan is considered to be a sexual offender, who poses a risk of significant harm to the community.

Carrigan is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 180 cm (5’11”) tall
  • 102 kg (225 lbs)
  • Blue eyes
  • Brown hair

EPS said Carrigan will be living in Edmonton, and will be monitored by the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit.

Police said the warning is being issued after careful deliberation of related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it’s in the public interest to inform members of the community.
