The son of a missing St. Albert couple spoke out at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. Bret McCann says he wants his parents, 77-year-old Marie Ann McCann, and 78-year-old Lyle Thomas McCann, to know that their family is working hard to find them.

"We know you are out there...you may be hurt,we are looking as hard as we can for you," said Bret McCann.

The couple left July 3rd for a holiday in B.C. and police say there has been no record of the pair making any phone calls or using their bank account since.

The RV belonging to the couple has been found burned-out near the Minnow Lake campground about 35 kilometres southeast of Edson.

The couple took to Yellowhead Highway in the RV, with their light green Hyundai Tucson in tow. They were supposed to meet up with their daughter on July 10th, but when they didn't arrive, she notified St. Albert RCMP who then issued a missing person's bulletin.

The family was then informed their parent's green and white Gulf Stream motorhome had been found near the campground. A witness from the campground confirms an RV was found on a dead-end road and it had been burned to the ground.

There is still no sign of the couple or their SUV.

And while the torched RV was found on July 5th, the couple was not officially reported missing until July 10th.

"That certainly is a concern of ours. We are looking at how it was found, how it was reported, how it was investigated," said Sgt. Patrick Webb with the RCMP.

RCMP say an Edson RCMP officer came across the burning RV and was able to pull information from the registration card. The officer attempted to to call the registered owner of the RV, but that was unsuccessful.

At that point, the file was then passed along to the St. Albert police detachment. Police would not say if the St. Albert detachment followed up on the case.

"We make no hesitation in saying there are ways we do investigations that some people may not agree with," said Webb.

Bret McCann believes the RCMP are fully engaged in the current investigation, but thinks there should be more done to locate owners of burned-out or suspected vehicles.

"The relationship between vehicle registry and the emergency contact apparently there is not. I think there should be," he said.

Officers do not currently have any suspects in the burning of the RV. A volunteer search and rescue team is now scouring the area near the campsite. In addition to searchers, investigators from RCMP Edson and 'K' Division detachments, as well as a canine unit, are also walking around the area.

The road leading to the campsite is pitted with deep pot holes. Family members say the couple never planned to go to the campsite, they say their first destination was supposed to be Blue River, B.C.

Investigators are asking people to keep an eye out for the couple or their missing SUV. The licence plate of the green Hyundai Tucson is ZPK 289.
