Crews were called to the Trail Tire at 116 Street in central Edmonton on Sunday.

The blaze broke out around 1:45 p.m.

Thick black smoke could be seen rising from the building.

No injuries were reported, and the building was not occupied.

Police were called to control traffic in the area.

The blaze was brought under control by about 3:10 p.m. declared out hours later at 6:34 p.m.

The first damge estimate place loss at $40,000. 

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services confirmed the fire is being investigated as a possible arson.
