Five people are facing charges in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man in Edmonton's west-end in September.

After 10 p.m. on September 17, police were called to a reported stabbing at an apartment building on 115 Avenue and 132 Street.

A 27-year-old man living in that building was taken to hospital with stab wounds, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said Chrysostom Caragay Marquez was stabbed after an altercation escalated between several people in the apartment suite.

A total of five people are facing charges, 24-year-old Malcolm Boysis has been charged with second degree murder, and 30-year-old Thomas Cowan, 34-year-old Michael Demeter, 41-year-old Trung Nguyen and 27-year-old Andrea Ng have been charged with one count each of manslaughter.

This homicide was Edmonton's 37th of the year.
