RCMP in Fort McMurray are investigating after a man’s body was found at the bottom of an elevator shaft.

Officers from the Wood Buffalo detachment were called out around 3:50 a.m. Sunday to a construction site in the Riverstone Ridge area of Timberlea.

Employees on the site told police they saw a man in the area.

The officers found the body of a man, believed to be in his 20s, at the bottom of an incomplete elevator shaft.

Another man found on the site was detained but officials said they do not suspect foul play.

RCMP said they were still trying to identify the deceased and had secured the scene for their ongoing investigation.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them, 780-788-4000 or Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-8477.
