Edmontonians are being treated to free admission at a number of city attractions Sunday for the 2012 Free Admission Day.

The city is calling it a "celebration of recreation" as a number of leisure, sports and fitness centres are free to the public Sunday, along with attractions like the Valley Zoo, Fort Edmonton Park, John Janzen Nature Centre, John Walter Museum, Muttart Conservatory and more.

Four YMCA facilities are also offering free admission for the day.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at most facilities and the city is also asking Edmontonians who take part to also make donations to the Edmonton Food Bank.

The annual event is a way for the city to thank Edmontonians "for their ongoing support of attractions and recreation facilities."
