If you’ve attempted to fill up in Alberta in the last few days, you may have noticed that many Shell stations across the province are out of gas.

A spokesperson from Shell says the shortage stems from a problem at the Scotford Refinery. The issue was detected in early August, and the company is still working to fix it.

“We realize that it’s a big inconvenience to our customers, and we apologize for that.” Shell spokesperson Cameron Yost told CTV on Thursday afternoon. “We’re working really, really hard to solve this.

There is no timeline on when the issue at the Scotford Refinery will be solved, but the company is working to get fuel to customers as quickly as possible.

“Right now we’re looking for additional sources of gasoline to ensure that we can get products to our stations.” Yost said.
