It was a grueling five-hour ride, but a group of cyclists are celebrating after raising thousands of dollars for cancer research.

Ten cyclists rode from Fort Saskatchewan Saturday, and finished the 130 kilometre ride in Boyle.

This year, the group raised $10,000 – with all proceeds going to the Cross Cancer Institute. The cycling event has raised more than $50,000 in five years.

The annual bike ride is a precursor to the Bryan Mudryk Golf Tournament, which is being held on June 18 at the Skeleton Lake Golf Club.

The golf tournament has raised nearly $500,000 for the Cross Cancer Institute over five years.
