A local organization challenged professionals and amateurs to get together and build something this weekend.

Startup Edmonton invited students, professionals, business owners and others interested in coding to a hackathon.

“It’s a learning weekend as much as it is trying to build something,” CEO Ken Bautista explained.

Participants took to Twitter to prove they were enjoying the challenge.

Bautista said they held the event every few months to bring different people together and create partnerships and ideas.

“For some people they use the weekend to hammer out an idea that they have been thinking about for a while,” he said adding others used the weekend to gain new skills.
