A 27-year-old man charged with the murder of his common-law wife will be back in court Monday.

Trevor Toews was charged after police found 25-year-old Alexandra Noble unresponsive in the couple’s apartment at 153 Street and 101 Avenue.

Noble was transported to hospital where she later died.

An autopsy indicated the cause of death was asphyxia due to strangulation.

Toews has been charged with second degree murder.

The couple was reported to have a young son, who was placed in the care of family members.

Noble’s death was the 15th homicide of 2012.
