Edmonton police said the Homicide Unit had been called in to investigate a shooting that left one dead Wednesday evening.
Police said officers were called to a shooting in the area of 112 Avenue and 94 Street just after 6 p.m.
An officer on the scene told CTV News said police arrived to find a gun had apparently been shot through the door of a suite.
Inside, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
“EMS was called and shortly thereafter the male was declared deceased, and at this point we’ve declared this a suspicious death and have contained the scene,” Insp. Joel Whittaker said at the scene.
Whittaker said the Homicide Unit had been called in.
Streets surrounding the scene were taped off as police investigated, and the K9 unit was called in to help in the investigation.
Officers were canvassing the neighbourhood.
