Police are asking for anyone with information surrounding a suspicious death in southeast Edmonton Sunday morning, to come forward.

A man was found dead in the parking lot of a strip mall outside a bar in the area of 34 Avenue and 92 Street around 3 a.m. Sunday.

The homicide unit is leading the investigation.

Police will not confirm whether the man was a patron at the bar or say how he ended up in the parking lot. However officers say several staff and patrons from the bar were outside when police arrived.

“The people who were present or any bystanders at this point, we’re still investigating and not sure if they actually witnessed something,” said Acting Insp. Brad Goeson with the Edmonton Police Service.

The cause of death and identity of the man is not yet being released.

Investigators spent most of Sunday scouring the large parking lot for clues.

There are also several surveillance cameras around the lot.

“Whether they found anything or the presence of any cameras at all, I don’t know,” Goeson said.

An autopsy has not yet been scheduled.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
