City police are investigating after a man's body was discovered early Friday morning in west Edmonton.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 1:00 a.m., from paramedics who discovered the body of a man at the Carriage Lane condominium complex near 57 Avenue and 172 Street.

Sources told CTV News that the man appeared to have suffered knife wounds.

The death is being called suspicious and detectives with the Homicide Unit are in charge of the investigation.

CTV News has learned the suite where the body was found had been rented out by a family of five, but neighbours said the home had become a constant source of noise and disturbances.

The president of the condo board, Tim Black, told CTV News he had spent the morning answering calls from concerned residents.

He said he had received a number of complaints about the residents in recent weeks; the tenant was on eviction notice and was supposed to be out Friday.

“There was a wife, and a husband and three children initially that were on the lease, but there were so many people going in there that at any given time there could be ten or 15, or 20 people in there partying and doing their thing,” Black said.

He said the woman and children had recently moved out, but the troubles continued – escalating enough that the condo board had added a surveillance camera.

Police say they have a person in interest in custody and continue to investigate.
