Former teammates of Jolene Cote gathered at a local soccer pitch, dressed in jerseys and cleats, and played a game in tribute to the woman found dead inside her home.

The mom of two was killed seven months ago. Her death was ruled a homicide.

On Saturday, her former soccer team hosted the first annual "Jolene Cote Memorial Tournament."

"It was tough for our team but people really stepped up and rallied together," said Shelley Wyman, tournament organizer. "We've been a really supportive group for one another."

While Cote only played one season with the Spruce Grove Saints, teammates say her passion for the sport and her outgoing spirit made a positive impact.

Details surrounding Cote's death are still unclear. The 36-year-old was found inside her home back in October. RCMP say Cote had played a soccer game and shopped at a nearby Wal-Mart the day her body was found by her husband.

No one has been arrested in her death.

Cote's family is offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
