Instead of raising monetary pledges, participants in the Edmonton Walk for Values pledged to become better people by committing themselves to one value.

The walk has taken place for the past five years in every capital city in Canada and aims to make participants better people, one value at a time.

"We take so many things for granted and we turn into machines day...just to make money and that's what our routine ends up being," said Kriti Bhatnagar, a youth organizer.

Participants gathered at McIntyre Park on Saturday morning for the walk.

The Walk for Values has spread around the world after starting in Toronto five years ago.
