Investigators deem fire at Tofield police detachment as arson: RCMP

A fire that occurred at the Tofield, Alta., RCMP detachment on Dec. 2 has been declared an arson by investigators.

Police said they are looking for anyone who may have been in the area from 2:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on the morning of the fire.

A passerby reported the building on fire at 5:34 a.m. that day.

A temporary police detachment is currently located at the Town of Tofield Administration Office at 5407 50 St.

According to firefighters at the scene, most of the interior damage occurred on the ceiling with smoke damage throughout the building with some visible damage on the front entrance.

Anyone with information is asked to call Tofield RCMP at 780-662-3352.
