The Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets will play a regular-season game outdoors in October as part of the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic.

The event, set to take place on October 23 at Winnipeg’s Investors Group Field, returns to the regular line-up after games in Vancouver (2014), Calgary (2011) and Edmonton (2003).

While the contest will be a first for the Jets, it will be the Oilers’ second outdoor battle since hosting the first-ever NHL regular-season outdoor game at Commonwealth Stadium 13 years ago.

The league also announced there will be a “Legends” game on October 22 – with Wayne Gretzky as captain of the Oilers and Dale Hawechuk to captain Winnipeg.

Gretzky confirmed he’ll be joined on the ice by former teammates Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, Jarri Kurri and Dave Semenko.
