The provincial government announced a number of changes coming to the new leg of Anthony Henday Drive, including a new interchange set to open, along with a series of upcoming road closures.

This weekend, the new Sherwood Drive interchange will open to traffic – officials said it will enhance safety and traffic capacity once the full ring road opens.

Plus, the Broadmoor Boulevard Bridge at Yellowhead Trail will be demolished to make way for three new, wider bridges to accommodate changes along the Yellowhead.

Due to the closure related to the removal of the Broadmoor Boulevard Bridge will be detoured to the new Sherwood Drive and Yellowhead Trail interchange.

Officials said Yellowhead Trail eastbound will be closed under the Broadmoor Boulevard Bridge between June 5 at 11 p.m. and June 7 at 10 a.m. – the ramp from northbound Anthony Henday Drive to Yellowhead Trail eastbound will also be closed.

The westbound lanes of Yellowhead Trail will also be closed under the Broadmoor Boulevard Bridge between June 6 at midnight to June 7 at 10 a.m.

The closure is needed to demolish the bridge.

The northeast leg of Anthony Henday Drive is expected to open in the fall of 2016.
