Edmonton police have laid charges, after a man carrying a gun was reported seen in a southwest Edmonton neighbourhood on several occasions.
On Monday, Police said two incidents had been reported, where a stranger flashed what appeared to be a firearm at passersby.
The first incident occurred on Friday, June 22 near the Snow Valley Ski Resort parking lot, where a group of cyclists saw a male carrying what looked like a handgun, which he tucked into his waistband when the group approached – before running away.
The next day, police said a resident walking with their child over the Terwillegar Drive footbridge north of 23 Avenue reported a male flashed what appeared to be a handgun at them, before fleeing the scene.
A third incident was reported Tuesday morning – police said at about 11:30 am, a man wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was seen walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road.
Police said they received a tip on Tuesday afternoon that a man matching the description of the suspect was at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre.
The suspect was arrested at about 4:30 pm at the centre.
Investigators then executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where a BB pistol and a balaclava matching the description given by witnesses was found.
