A 58-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a police officer in Red Deer early Friday morning.
Red Deer RCMP were called to a restaurant just before 1 a.m. Friday after reports of an intoxicated man who wouldn’t leave the building.
Police say they placed the man under arrest for causing a disturbance, however the man resisted and allegedly punched and kicked a police officer in the face.
The police officer was taken to hospital, treated and released.
Robert Stuart Fleming, 58, has been charged with assaulting a police officer causing bodily harm, resisting a police officer and causing a disturbance.
Fleming is in custody pending bail.
He is set to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Dec. 31.
