Video showing a man breaking out car windows during a confrontation in the Grande Prairie area has surfaced online – and while the man the video focuses on is facing charges, the man behind the camera said more needs to be done.
The video was posted online by Damian Dallyn, who was also recording the video.
Dallyn told CTV News there had been a landscaping dispute he was trying to clear up on Saturday, August 6, and after a verbal confrontation, he walked back to his car.
That’s when a relative of the individual he was dealing with came towards him, with a baton – and he started recording video of what happened next on his phone.
In the video, the man with the baton says to Dallyn: “You’re going to be in the hospital if you don’t get out of here.”
Right after that, the man uses the baton to smash out the front driver’s side window, and then the rear passenger window.
“I don’t even know what was really going through my head at the time of him pulling a weapon out and coming at my car,” Dallyn said. “As soon as he hit my first window I was in shock, I was spitting glass out of my mouth.”
Dallyn said he was on a public road when the incident happened, he said he was in shock, and suffered a number of injuries.
“I had cuts on my lips, on my forehead and stuff from glass piercing me,” Dallyn said. “I had glass on my nose that once I got out, I cut the inside of my nose getting glass out of my nose.”
RCMP told CTV News they first received a call over the incident at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Dennis James Tissington, 67, was arrested and charged with mischief, and RCMP said more could come.
CTV News attempted to reach Tissington, but could not get ahold of him Tuesday. Tissington’s relative, who owns the land seen in the video, and works with Tissington at a home building company in Grande Prairie said he didn’t want to tell his side of the story before consulting with a lawyer.
The relative said they are considering suing Dallyn, but would not confirm what he would be sued for.
However, Dallyn said that isn’t enough, and weapons and assault charges should also be laid.
Tissington is scheduled to appear in court on October 3.
