A 27-year-old man has been charged with the second-degree murder of a 25-year-old Whitecourt resident.
On Sunday, police found a man's body on a path between Blueberry Drive and Caxton Street.
Police originally said the death was being treated as suspicious due to evidence found at the scene. But an autopsy has revealed that the victim was murdered.
Matthew Ryan Trudzik is now charged in connection with the death of Dale Edward Kirby.
Police say the men were known to each other.
The cause of death is not being released.
Police say the crime occurred on a path in a forested area behind Petro Canada on Caxton Street on Sunday between noon and 3 p.m.
