Edmonton police said the Major Collision Investigation Unit was on scene of a fatal collision in southeast Edmonton Thursday evening.

Police were attending an unrelated event in the area around 6:10 p.m. when they found a man on a dirt bike that had collided with a fence near Silverberry Road and 28 Avenue.

Paramedics attended the scene where the 40-year-old man was pronounced dead.

Residential roads on Silverberry Road between 32 Street and 28A Avenue were closed to traffic while EPS Major Collision Unit investigated the incident.
