Drayton Valley RCMP have reported a man died Sunday night, after the all-terrain vehicle he was riding with another person flipped.

RCMP said police and emergency crews were called to the rollover in the Brazeau Dam area after 8:30 pm Sunday.

Police believe the ATV, which was carrying a 40-year-old man and a 15-year-old, was being driven up a hill on the south side of the Brazeau River, when it flipped backwards onto both people on the vehicle.

According to police, the man from Drayton Valley was conscious for a short time, then collapsed – although bystanders and emergency medical services personnel tried to revive him, he succumbed to his injuries.

The 15-year-old passenger, also from Drayton Valley, was not injured in the rollover.

It's believed both occupants were related, and had been wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The victim's name has not been released, pending consent from the family.

This is the third fatal ATV crash reported in Alberta over four days.
