A Hobbema man is facing a number of charges after he fled from Leduc police during a traffic stop.

Leduc RCMP say officers with the Leduc Integrated Traffic Unit pulled over the 26-year-old man Sunday around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 2A near Leduc.

Before the officer could ask for the driver's information, he drove away from the traffic stop.

The man's vehicle crashed into a pickup truck a short distance later.

At that point the man fled the scene. He was apprehended by police at the backdoor of the RCMP detachment in Leduc.

Allan Tyler Mykat is facing six charges including flight from police, dangerous driving, failure to remain at the scene of a motor vehicle collision, impaired driving, driving over .08, obstructing police and driving without a valid license.

Mykat will appear in court on June 6 in Leduc.
