RCMP are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 2, about 40 kilometers south of Slave Lake.

Police said just after 5 a.m. on Sunday, August 30 a southbound Dodge truck and a northbound car collided head-on – the adult male driver of the car died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, also an adult male, sustained non-life threatening injuries – both drivers were the lone occupants in each vehicle.

Officials said the exact cause of the crash is not known at this time, but foggy conditions may have been a factor.

Traffic was being diverted in both directions along the Old Smith Highway, until early Sunday afternoon.

No further details have been released pending notification of next of kin.

RCMP continue to investigate.
