Edmonton police said Wednesday that a man in his 20s had been identified and charged following an alleged sexual assault on an LRT train in late September.

EPS said on September 29, after midnight, a woman was approached by a man on the LRT. It’s alleged the male boarded the train at Churchill Station, and appeared to be intoxicated.

Reports indicated the male tried to sit with the woman on the train a number of times – and when she attempted to leave, it’s alleged she was sexually assaulted.

Police said, in the week since they put out the call for help identifying the suspect, numerous tips had come in – and the suspect was identified as Scott Gordon Kennedy, 26.

Kennedy has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court November 27.
