An autopsy is scheduled Monday after a man in his early 30's died following a fight at a north Edmonton nightclub.

Early Sunday morning, police were called to Diesel Ultra Lounge, located at 118th Avenue and Wayne Gretzky Drive, after receiving reports of shots being fired at the nightclub.

Investigators say they're told a number of arguments inside the bar spilled outside.

By the time officers arrived, the people involved in the matter had already left. Officials say the victim was located at a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

His identity is not known.

"As you can imagine, at 3 a.m. the bar had just let out so there's a huge number of witnesses. They're all being interviewed, and our detectives are working hard at trying to unravel exactly what occurred," said Insp. Brian Nowlan with the Edmonton Police Service.

This marks Edmonton's sixth homicide of the year, and third in the past week.

The homicide section released a statement saying: "Our investigations into this year's homicides show several commonalities: known-on-known attacks, alcohol and drugs fuelling violence, and high-risk lifestyles."
