Police said Friday that investigators were on the scene at a southeast Edmonton home, after a body was found inside a home that morning.

Edmonton Police Service officials said officers were called to a home in the area of 37 Avenue and 13 Street, at about 8:30 a.m. Friday, after a call was made to 911.

Police said a man who lives in that home, showed up at another house nearby, where a relative lives – it’s believed he told family members that a woman had died inside his home.

The body of a female had been found inside the home – but the man who lives in the house wasn’t at home.

“We’ve got family members that we’re interviewing,” Staff Sgt. Bill Clark with the EPS Homicide Unit said. “Right now, early indications are this appears to be a domestic-type incident but it’s just way too early right now to speculate on anymore.”

Later Friday morning, police told CTV News officers were waiting for a warrant to search the home - where an officer could be seen outside standing guard.

Neighbours told CTV News they didn’t know the people who lived there, and police said they had not had to respond to any trouble at the home in the past.

Until an autopsy is done, police said they won’t know what the cause of death is.
