Months after an Edmonton man was charged for trying to arrange to have sex with a young girl, ALERT said investigators had laid additional charges against him, and charges against a female suspect.

ALERT told CTV News new details had been uncovered since Wesley Darrell Vander Leeuw, 43, was arrested in late January, 2017.

At the time, he was arrested and charged with making arrangements or agreement to commit sexual offences against a child and making child pornography. He was charged after investigators participated in online conversations with him, pretending to be a woman with an 11-year-old daughter.

It’s alleged he participated in sexually explicit conversations, and tried to arrange to have sex with the fictional daughter.

Months later, new details led investigators to execute a search warrant at a home in Breton, Alberta on July 26.

At that time, a 29-year-old woman was arrested and charged with making arrangements to commit a sexual offense against a child, making child pornography and distributing child pornography.

Its alleged Vander Leeuw and the woman had been engaged in online correspondence that allegedly involved plans to have sex with her two children.

He was arrested on July 28 at his Edmonton home, and he is now also facing charges of making child pornography, distributing child pornography, and two counts of making arrangements to commit a sexual offense against a child.
