Emily Olsen

November 2023: Emily Olsen is no longer with the company.

Born and raised in Alberta’s capital city, Emily has a passion for Edmonton and its history, culture and incredible river valley views.

She started her broadcasting career younger than most — conducting her school’s morning announcements in 5th and 6th grade and emceeing numerous school assemblies before attending MacEwan University and NAIT for Communications and Broadcast.

Emily has brought in-depth and personal coverage to her community as a broadcast journalist in Victoria, Lethbridge and Saskatoon. Highlights from her career include live coverage of the prime minister’s visit to Vancouver Island, the 2021 Saskatchewan wildfires and up-to-date details on the extreme weather coverage for Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Emily has a huge passion for inclusion and peer support and worked as a disability support worker throughout university — assisting and tutoring university students with developmental disabilities. Emily says this work changed the course of her life and introduced her to the world of advocacy, as well as the NAIT Radio and Television Broadcast program.

Emily says her favourite part of working in television is the endless opportunity to celebrate and amplify the work of so many people in the community. As a Fort Edmonton Park alum, she knows just how significant small acts of generosity and kindness can be to the history of a city.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys listening to some of her favourite jazz standards, singing and playing ukulele, discovering some of Edmonton’s best food spots, watching true crime documentaries and exploring the river valley with her bulldog Toby.
