Condo owners in the condemned Penhorwood Apartments in Fort McMurray want the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to admit its responsibility in the unsafe construction of the building.

An online petition was setup to help gain support for their cause. On the web page, the creators of the petition are pointing the finger at government officials for not doing their part.

"We believe the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is wholly responsible through gross negligence for the geo-technical failure and life safety issues."

They say if the RMWB don't act now, 52 Penhorwood condominium owners will go bankrupt as they continue to make mortgage payments for a home they can't live in.

Serious structural problems have caused 300 people to be evacuated from the buildings for the past few weeks.

Following an examination of the seven apartment buildings, engineers have determined it is highly unlikely that any resident will ever enter any of the buildings again; not even to gather the remainder of their belongings.
