Grande Prairie RCMP have released the name of a 21-year-old man in connection with the discovery of human remains last Sunday.

Christopher Francis Podruzny has been charged with one count of indignity to a body, and will remain in custody until his first court appearance in Grande Prairie on Monday.

A 14-year-old Grande Prairie girl who was also charged with one count of indignity to a body, and has been released from custody. She will make her first court appearance on Monday as well in Grande Prairie Provincial Court.

Police said positive identification of the victim as well as manner of death has yet to be determined by the Medical Examiner's office.

RCMP said they are investigating possible links between the discovery and two open missing person's cases.

"So it is fair to say that those missing person's cases that are open within our Grande Prairie RCMP detachment will be considerations when we're looking at the investigation that we presently have with the human remains," said Cpl. Carol McKinley with the Grande Prairie RCMP.

Friends and family are wondering if those remains are those of 19-year-old Alysa Zatelny. She was reported missing June 13th.
