RCMP are investigating after a teenage boy was found severely injured outside a residence in the town of Beaumont, just south of Edmonton, early Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers were called to the area of Rideau Crescent at about 1:30 a.m. where they discovered a victim "with obvious head injuries”.

RCMP said the teen was taken to hospital, however the extent of his injuries is not known at this time.

After turning to the public for help, police have since identified the injured youth who was described by authorites as being between 13 and-18 years-old.

Police continue to search for a suspect.
