Police are on the hunt for a man after he allegedly used a car dealership's truck, loaned to him for a test drive, to travel to a bank and rob a teller.

The ordeal began after 10 a.m. Tuesday when the suspect allegedly walked into a downtown car dealership and asked to take a pre-owned truck for a test drive, police said.

The man drove the vehicle around for a short while, with the salesman in the truck, before taking it to a bank on 111 Avenue and Groat Road.

He allegedly told the salesman he was running into the bank to get money to pay for the truck.

The suspect left the staff member in the truck while he ran inside.

While the salesman unknowingly sat in the test vehicle, the man passed a note to the teller demanding cash, investigators said.

After getting the money, the suspect got back in the truck and told the salesman he wanted to show the vehicle to a friend in Sherwood Park before buying it.

When the man stopped the truck at a gas station near Lakeland Trailer Park, the salesman grew suspicious and waited for the suspect to leave the truck before calling 911 and hiding the keys.

Police said the suspect fled when he realized the staff member had caught on.

Investigators said the man has been identified as 40-year-old Marcel Perrot.

He is described as a Mtis male, about 6'1" tall and 230 pounds.

He has brown hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos including a unicorn on his right shoulder, a dragon and panther on his left shoulder and a serpent on his upper right arm. He is known to police.
