Three people have been arrested after a man was allegedly kidnapped from his home and assaulted in the Foxboro neighbourhood of Sherwood Park Tuesday night.

Police say they were contacted by a woman who reported that her husband had been assaulted at their residence by two males who had showed up unannounced, and removed him from the house. She told police they had then fled the area in a vehicle that was parked outside.

RCMP attempted to locate the suspect vehicle, which was described as a light blue Dodge minivan, but were initially unable to locate it.

But then a couple of hours later, the suspect vehicle was located travelling on Wye Road near Ordze Road in Sherwood Park where it was stopped by police who conducted what they call a "high risk" vehicle stop.

Police say the victim was located in the vehicle suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated by Strathcona County Emergency Services at the scene.

Officers also located two males inside the vehicle, who were arrested at the scene.

A third suspect was arrested in Edmonton later in the morning.

RCMP do not believe this incident was random and believe the suspects are linked to the victim through drugs.

Charges are pending against three others.
