Police confirm a mother and her daughter were found dead at a rural home near Falher, Alta. Police have charged the mother's common-law husband with first degree murder.

Emergency crews responded to the home after someone hung up in the middle of a 911 call around 8 a.m. Wednesday. Police confirm the bodies of Melody Chomiak, 45, and her daughter, Jerica Bouchard, 20, were located at the home.

Edward John Chomiak, 49, has been charged and is in police custody. Officers say Edward was bound by conditions of a restraining order under the Protection Against Family Violence Act.

The cause of death is still subject to an exam by the medical examiner.
