Edmonton detectives are investigating the city's second homicide in just two days. A man who owned a north-end pizza shop was found injured early Tuesday morning.

Police say they were called to the business in the area of 119 Street and 129 Avenue around 4:30 a.m.

Investigators say someone reported finding a male suffering from what appeared to be serious injuries. The male victim was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

Police have not released the name of the victim but friends and family have identified the man as Mohammad Bashir Khan.

Raja Nazir is the victim's brother. He says his brother was a hard worker who took over as the family's patriarch when their father died at an early age.

"He asked me to go to school and whatever he made he helped us out," he said.

CTV News spoke to some neighbours in the area who say drug deals are common in the neighbourhood.

A minor was taken into custody following the incident. Police tell CTV News they were led to a nearby residence by a blood trail.

The same business has been the scene of violence before.

In September of last year, the same location was the scene of an attempted armed robbery. A masked man walked in carrying two sawed-off shot guns and demanded cash.

The suspect left empty handed after the owner was able to get the weapons away from the intruder.

This marks the city's sixth homicide of the year.

Just 24 hours ago, the latest homicide occurred after a body was discovered on a stairwell leading from the Hotel MacDonald to Edmonton's River Valley.

Khan, originally from Lebanon, leaves behind a wife, six children and many grandchildren. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
