After a death in the Occupy Vancouver camp, Edmonton protesters have claimed their camp is safe.

Vancouver police have not said what may have killed the 20-something woman but others at the camp tell CTV News it was a drug overdose.

There is a ban on drugs and alcohol at the Edmonton camp, a spokesperson said.

"Safety is our number one concern. We've had discussion with both Melcor and with the police on this requirement," Byrn MacDonald explained.

"We are making sure that we are responsible in what we're doing."

Protesters have been camped out at 102 Street and Jasper Avenue for over three weeks.

"We are determined to stay as long as it takes," MacDonald said.
