With the help of the Children’s Wish Foundation, the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Police and countless others, Edmonton had a pint-sized crime fighter on the streets Monday, searching for a missing Oiler.

First thing Monday morning, Edmontonians received word that a kidnapping had taken place – Oilers Captain Andrew Ference had been kidnapped.

In a faux-newscast, police asked for help from the one and only Spider-Mable.

By 9 a.m., Spider-Mable in full gear, met with Spiderman himself and Edmonton’s Mayor Don Iveson – who gave her full access to the city to track down Ference.

She then headed to Edmonton Police Service downtown headquarters, where she met with police.

There, Spider-Mable learned she was looking for the villain Mysterio.

Next, Spider-Mable headed to the West Edmonton Mall Waterpark for superhero training at 11:15 a.m. - there, she and Spiderman ziplined to rescue Black Cat.

After that rescue, the trio of superheroes went to Boston Pizza for lunch.

Later on, they went to at Galaxyland at 1 p.m. - there, the trio received clues to help them find Ference. They put a map together to find their next stop, the Edmonton Valley Zoo.

At the zoo, Spider-Mable received her final clue, with help from Lucy the Elephant. A short time later, they found Mysterio, and saved Ference from his evil clutches.

The six-year-old has been fighting cancer for the past two years – she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a cancer of the white blood cells, in September 2013.

During her treatments, Mable would pass her time reading comics, her favourites were 1960s-era Spiderman issues.

According to her mom Lisa, Mable has always liked Spiderman, saying he was the closest hero to being human.

The day-long wish is similar to the one fulfilled by the Make-A-Wish Foundation for ‘Batkid’, or Miles Scott, who had spent the day fighting crime in San Francisco in 2013. Scott became a social media darling, and attracted thousands of fans who gathered on city streets to watch him fight crime.

Spider-Mable was trending throughout much of the day – even Ference’s daughters reached out to her via Twitter after the kidnapping.

For Spider-Mable, organizers were encouraging fans to go to each of the locations she will be at to cheer her on - after only a day fighting crime on city streets, it appears she has a dedicated following of her own.

The celebrations were set to continue, the High Level Bridge will be lit up in red, and the Edmonton Oilers have invited her to drop the puck at their game against Arizona Tuesday.
