The Edmonton Oilers held a media conference call Friday afternoon to announce that they no longer have any interest in acquiring Dany Heatley.

GM Steve Tambellini said that he's going to stop pursuing a trade with the Ottawa Senators for the player. The Oilers have been trying to link with Heatley for about a month.

"They're just not ready to make decisions they said they want options. We gave ourselves an allotted amount of time internally of where we were going to give ourselves to explore every opportunity to see if there was something that would work. It didn't, and it's time for us to move on and we're very comfortable with that," Tambellini said.

The GM indicated that he broke off discussion with the Senators earlier this week and is now looking to move in another direction.

Senators GM Bryan Murray has been working to deal Heatley since the player demanded a trade from the team back in the spring.
