RCMP are investigating, after a collision north of Boyle on Highway 63 left one person dead early Thursday morning.
Police said the crash took place just before 2 a.m., at Kilometre 5 on Highway 63, about 45 kilometres north of Boyle.
It’s believed a northbound car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a southbound semi-truck, the truck caught fire, but the driver was able to escape unhurt.
However, the driver of the car was pronounced dead on the scene.
As a result of the crash, traffic had to be rerouted off of the highway for several hours while crews cleaned up the wreck.
The highway reopened to traffic just before 9 a.m.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but police said alcohol did not play a role in the collision, and the identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
