RCMP have confirmed to CTV News that one individual is dead, after a serious collision Wednesday morning.

Police said three vehicles were involved in the collision on Highway 36 south of Lac La Biche, officers and emergency crews were called to the scene at about 7:40 a.m.

Lac La Biche RCMP said a 50-year-old driver of one of the vehicles succumbed to his injuries on the scene, while two men, 25 and 28-years-old, from another vehicle were rushed to hospital by ambulance.

Police said two other males, who are 34 and 28-years-old, in the third vehicle suffered minor injuries and were treated on the scene by paramedics.

As a result of the crash, Highway 36 at Highway 55 East was closed due to the crash, drivers were also advised that Highways 881, 55, 663 and 858 were in poor condition Wednesday morning, and travel was not recommended.

The affected section of Highway 36 reopened in the mid-afternoon.
